I want to talk about a place that I visited in my last vacations and left me really impressed. That place is simple but at the same time it is beautiful. It’s a place with many cultural content. This place is La Candelaria in Bogotá.
La Candelaria is the historical and cultural heart of the Colombian capital. La Candelaria is an ancient district located in the center of Bogota. La Candelaria is characterized by its colonial houses, artistically decorated streets, its monuments, its narrow alleys and its cultural diversity. This place is surrounded by parks, libraries, museums, universities, chapels, restaurants, and more.
When you walk through these streets is a nice experience that transports you to a colonial times, and makes you feel like a foreigner and you feel like you are walking through the streets of old European city. In la Candelaria the air is clean and has beautiful scenery, cold weather, and everything else, comes together to form this beautiful place.
One of the things that most impressed me was that as you go up the hill and you look back, you can see part of the miniature city while you are surrounded by beautiful murals, colorful, artistic, and small houses that retain their colonial architecture.
At the top of the Candelaria you will find a small and beautiful park where
foreigners can get together. The street performers, musicians, writers, among
others, creating a wonderful atmosphere and you can share a beer or coffee
sitting on one of the front gardens. If you go to la Candelaria you will find an
experience to get you some culture.
And at the bottom of the Candelaria you can find beautiful places, parks and landscapes. One of this is environmental axis (EjeAmbiental) in Jimenez Avenue, a space where the architects of the capital took an underground river to the surface. I could say this is my favorite place because it is a peaceful space, fresh air and surrounded by pine trees, a thoroughly recommended place to relax and leave the hustle of the city.
